Which hash algorithm should I use?

For most use cases, use SHA-256. It's secure and widely supported. SHA-512 is even more secure but produces longer hashes. Avoid MD5 and SHA-1 for security-critical applications as they're vulnerable to attacks.

Can I reverse a hash to get the original text?

No. Hash functions are one-way—you cannot reverse a hash to get the original text. This is by design and makes hashes useful for password storage and data verification.

Is MD5 supported?

MD5 is not natively supported by the Web Crypto API. The tool provides a workaround, but for production use, consider using a library like crypto-js for true MD5 support. Note that MD5 is cryptographically broken and should not be used for security purposes.
